Let’s talk about Grief 👀 My kids are still d Let’s talk about Grief 👀

My kids are still doing big things.

Like graduating high school,
Getting girlfriends, and
Going off to college.

And my late husband isn’t seeing any of these significant milestones.

Even though it’s been 10 years
since my last husband, Jamie, passed away,
Grief still shows up

That’s why society thinking there’s a time limit to grief is completely absurd…

Tell me in the comments – have you heard this advice? Did it sit well with you?!

Every now and then…You need to be reminded of ho Every now and then…You need to be reminded of how great you really are.

Now that it’s been three years since your spouse's death,
People might not be cheering you on as much anymore.

But, I want you to know that I see you.

You’re putting so much work into your healing process.

Even though some days
it feels like you're barely keeping
your head above water,
You’re still putting one foot in front of the other.

Pat yourself on the back.
You deserve it!

Guilt and Shame are tricky little boogers.  I ha Guilt and Shame are tricky little boogers.

I have clients who feel guilty when they complain about their financial situations.

Do you feel the same way, too?

It’s like your money problems aren’t “bad” enough, so you shouldn’t be upset about them.

Which leads to shaming yourself.

Maybe you aren’t in a money crisis

BUT..

Your money concerns are just as valid as the next widows.

So, if you’re brain is shaming you with

Unfortunately, he left us just 2 short months after this picture was taken. That day we had a great time celebrating his 40th birthday.

Still hard to believe this was his last birthday 🎉

The boys and I celebrated him with our “birthday traditions”. Earlier this week, we went to Red Lobster for a crab dinner 🦀 while today Brady and I will be having cake. 🎂

Even though it’s been 10 years without him, today still makes me sad. I’ll allow myself to cry 🥹 and feel all of the deep emotions AND honor him by having some fun with my kids.

People don’t understand what it’s like to lose People don’t understand what it’s like to lose a spouse unless they have walked this walk.

Truthfully how are they supposed to know?

Did you know?

I know I didn’t.

This isn’t something that your friends and family can read about in a book and then get it.

This is why people will say things about your grief like, "aren't you over this by now".

You, my widow sister,  end up frustrated and hurt when you expect others to understand this unique journey.

Or “Wow, it’s only been 1 year; how is she already dating”.

You, my widow sister,  end up frustrated and hurt when you expect others to understand this unique journey.

By accepting that people just don’t get it,
and that’s okay,
you can remove a layer of annoyance from your life.

You do your healing your way!

You got this.
